Goal

Please Help Us Save Critical Sumatran Orangutan Habitat by donating to  buy  land to protect the endangered Sumatran Orangutan in North Sumatra who live in the bufferzone of the national park.

Securing these critical pieces of land will protect the buffer zone from being converted into palm oil plantations for LIFE. The land will be held in perpetuity in our Indonesian Foundation and under Indonesian Law cannot be sold.

This wildlife corridor in the critically endangered North Sumatran rainforest, is home to a wild population of orangutan and many other animals.

With your donation we will buy an important piece of land along the border of the Gunung Leuser National Park where orangutans and other unique and rare wildlife live. Once the land is bought, we will restore it to a natural forest through tree planting and prevent it from ever becoming a palm oil plantation.

Your contribution will make difference. Every $ will help! Thank you for your support.

HOW CAN YOU HELP SAVE THE RAINFOREST?

Have you always wanted your very own piece of rainforest to protect, conserve and reforest?

But you didn't know how or thought it would be too expensive?

Well now you can!

By donating to save your very own piece of rainforest to protect our planet, you will be able to nurture it and watch it grow.

You are also able to donate to plant trees on your donated land and you can even come and volunteer to help plant them!

You will receive a Rainforest Rescue Certificate with the GPS location and map of the land along with photo updates to see how your rainforest reforestation project is going.

WHY RESCUE YOUR VERY OWN PIECE OF RAINFOREST?

Everyone knows tropical rainforests are the lungs of the Earth and essential to our survival on this planet. Put simply, without trees there is no oxygen for us to breath to survive! But rainforests are so much more than that. Rainforests are a fragile biodiverse ecosystem, providing homes for so many precious animals and plants

Not many people know how they can help to protect it, as the problem seems too big for any one person to solve .

But there is a way!

Join us to rescue the rainforest piece by piece, metre by metre for less than the price of a cup of coffee a day!

Just $15 AUD will buy 5 square metres of rainforest

$30 AUD will buy 10 square metres of rainforest

$150 AUD will buy 50 square metres of rainforest

$300 AUD wil buy 100 square metres of rainforest

If you are keen to buy a larger parcel of land that is for sale in the wildlife bufferzone, please contact us to prevent it being sold and converted to palm oil plantations.

There is no time like the present to help!

Make a donation or  give a piece of the rainforest to your children, friends or loved ones as a gift.

You will receive a Rainforest certificate with details of the piece of land you have saved.

THANK YOU  to all the people who are already helping Rescue the Rainforest piece by piece, metre by metre. Together we really can make a difference to save our rainforest.

All land in our Nature Conservation Sanctuary is protected for life in our Indonesian Foundation.

DID YOU KNOW?

Over 80% of orangutans live in unprotected forests. This puts them at an even greater risk of extinction since their forest habitat can be converted to plantations, logging concessions, mining and other agriculture as well as be destroyed from encroachment from local people or immigrants.

Land clearance and illegal logging are a huge threat for orangutan rainforest habitat in the Leuser Ecocsystem Buffer zone and  even in protected areas of the Gunung Leuser National Park in Sumatra.

ABOUT US

In 2016 Batu Kapal Sanctuary was established in the Leuser Ecosystem bufferzone on the border of UNESCO Gunung Leuser  National Park in North Sumatra, to protect this fragile ecosystem which is the home for many rare and endangered UN red list species.

Thanks to our programs, Batu Kapal Conservation and the Indonesian Wildlife Protection Unit, we are protecting this crucial wildlife bufferzone. Poaching activities have been significantly reduced in the area due to regular patrolling and education of the forest fringe communities  and the illegal logging is reducing to zero!

By donating to buy land in this fragile wildlife corridor, you are helping to protect the long term survival of animals that live in this Wildlife Biolink, by protecting the ecosystem needed for their survival.
