Racing Towards a Cure 2026

When Quinn was born earlier this year, we were so excited to bring him home and introduce him to our family - and to Bailey, our dog. But when Quinn was just 17 days old, he began having seizures, leading to a hospitalization and a whirlwind of testing that ultimately gave us an answer: Pyridoxine-Dependent Epilepsy (PDE), an incredibly rare genetic form of epilepsy.

PDE is something we had never heard of before it became part of our family’s life. Today, Quinn’s seizures are controlled with treatment, but managing PDE is still part of every day - from medications and a specialized diet to regular monitoring and therapies.

Through all of it, Quinn continues to amaze us. He is happy, curious, determined, and increasingly on the move. PDE is part of his story, but it certainly doesn’t define him.

This November, during Epilepsy Awareness Month, we’re participating in the Cure PDE Foundation’s Racing Towards a Cure Virtual 5K in honor of Quinn and all of the children and families living with PDE.

We’re incredibly grateful for the research and community that helped give us answers and a path forward. Funds raised through Racing Towards a Cure will help advance PDE research, raise awareness, provide resources and opportunities for families to connect and learn, and support families navigating life with PDE.

Every donation helps move the PDE community closer to better treatments, greater understanding, and ultimately, a cure.
