Racing Towards a Cure 2026

When Finley was just 4 days old, our entire world changed. She began having seizures and ended up in the PICU, intubated, while we desperately waited for answers. Weeks later, we finally received a diagnosis we had never even heard of: Pyridoxine-Dependent Epilepsy (PDE-ALDH7A1).

Today, Finley is 5 years old, and we are incredibly grateful that her seizures have remained controlled. But PDE is still part of her life every single day. She takes B6 twice a day, drinks a special metabolic formula, takes L-Arginine, and follows a strict low-protein diet. Every meal, every restaurant, every trip and every new experience requires a little extra planning.

But if you know Finley, you know PDE certainly doesn’t define her. 🤍

She is funny, smart, loving, strong and so incredibly full of life. She has taught us more about resilience in five years than we could have learned in a lifetime.

That’s why we’re walking.

This November, #TeamFinley is participating in the Cure PDE Virtual 5K to raise money for the Cure PDE Foundation and the work being done toward treatments, research and awareness.

Our biggest hope is that one day, parents won’t have to watch their newborn seize before they know something is wrong. That PDE can be identified and treated before that first seizure ever happens.

Until then, we’ll keep showing up. We’ll keep raising awareness. We’ll keep funding research. And we’ll keep walking for Finley and every single PDE warrior beside her.
