Hey all! As most of you know, I've been a volunteer backpacking guide for Quetzaltrekkers since July. We're raising money to build a library as part of the new/future secondary school, so that the kids we support can continue to receive a high-quality education after primary school.

EDELAC (the organization we support) has purchased land and completed plans for a new secondary school, where students can continue learning through high school, with a particular focus on tourism and computation careers. The building will include ten classrooms, a computer lab, and a library, the heart of learning. 

This is where you step in. Since 1995, Quetzaltrekkers Xela have been running hikes in the Western highlands of Guatemala, with all the profits helping to fund EDELAC’s programs for at-risk youth. 

We’re launching a Fundraising Campaign to raise $45,000 USD, enough to equip the library fully with:

• Bookshelves and study tables
  

• 25 computers with internet access
  

• Desks, chairs, and classroom materials
  

• A calm, inspiring reading space for 175 students every year
