Precious Wings Fundraising

Luna Thien Fiora - Forever Loved. 

On Thursday 25 January 2024, our darling angel Luna Thien Fiora was born into this world peacefully sleeping. An angel that grew her wings too soon. 

From the moment we saw those 2 lines we were so happy and excited for our future. Over the next 37 weeks of growing our baby, we fell more and more in love and could not wait to meet our darling. We talked about who she might look like, who she might be. A family we had dreamt about and longed to be for so many years was all about to come true. 

Then on Tuesday 23 January, at our 36 and a half week scan, our lives changed forever - "I'm so sorry, she has no heartbeat". 

Our worlds completely shattered around us and time stood still. Since then we have been living a nightmare that we just can't wake up from. Our hearts broken and never to be the same again. 

I delivered Luna at Greenslopes Private Hospital and we are so grateful to the midwives who took care of us when our worlds were falling apart - their support and love was unmatched. Our 5 days in hospital gave us a gift of time with Luna that I wish we could go back to every day. Her little body, her gorgeous face...what we wouldn't do to give her one last cuddle and kiss. 

Instead of leaving the hospital with Luna, we left the hospital with a memory box. A box filled with Luna’s tiny hand and foot prints and a tiny bear to remind us of our angel. A memory box provided by Precious Wings and gifted on behalf of another family who have tragically experienced the pain of losing their child/ren.

In taking part in this fundraiser alongside Precious Wings, we hope to donate as many memory boxes as we can to ensure families who experience the unthinkable heartbreak do not leave the hospital with empty arms and to keep our darling Luna’s memory alive. 

A memory box is $70 but every dollar counts and goes along way in helping grieving families.

About Precious Wings:

• provides Queensland hospitals with memory boxes to give to families whose babies or children pass away from any cause from 16 weeks gestation up to 18 years of age,
• provides miscarriage bags  to Queensland hospitals for losses from 5 – 16 weeks gestation,
• enables bereaved parents to create their own boxes in memory of their own child to supply their local hospitals, an immensely healing process and means each box is made with love and understanding. Families are able to utilise our Precious Wings Headquarters in Windsor to bring their community together (family, friends, workplace, school community etc) to make memory boxes in honour of their child.
• supports 'beyond the box' by running peer support programs and support groups including memory box making facilitated by a qualified counsellor, yoga, art therapy.
• provides education to health professionals, funeral homes and other groups on caring for bereaved families and the use of memory boxes.
• All our services are provided free of charge.
