BAF board member and former Mayor of Beckley Emmett Pugh contacted family members and initiated efforts to create an unrestricted fund that honors three family patriarchs and their wives: Emmett S. Pugh, Sr. and his wife Jane Nicholson Pugh; Emmett S. Pugh, Jr. and his wife Virginia Minter Pugh; and Edward Nicholson Pugh and his wife Virginia Beerbower Pugh. As these individuals each contributed to the quality of life in Raleigh County, it is appropriate that the fund created in their honor will perpetually generate income to address future challenges and opportunities in our communities.
