The Program for Monitoring Emerging Diseases – ProMED – is an internet-based reporting system dedicated to the rapid global dissemination of information on outbreaks of infectious diseases and acute exposures to toxins that affect human, animal, and plant health. By providing early warning of outbreaks of emerging and re-emerging diseases, public health precautions can be taken in a timely manner to prevent transmission and to save lives.

Every year, ProMED publishes over 6,500 posts to its 10 different networks with comments written by subject matter experts at no cost to you, our readers. As we grapple with the true cost to information technology and increased demand for more data on posts, we need your help.
