Portland Mochitsuki's 25th anniversary!

Just as separate grains of rice come together to become mochi, individual community members come together every year to make Mochitsuki happen. For the past 25 years, our goal has been to keep Japanese traditions alive by sharing rich cultural experiences and celebrating the New Year with our Portland community.

We are a volunteer-led nonprofit organization and (usually) host an event with over three thousand participants every January. This year our celebration is a little different, but no less enthusiastic! We look forward to when we can celebrate in person, but hope you enjoy our free online celebration this year.

However because our event has gone virtual, we are unable to benefit from our usual sources of revenue (such as ticket sales) to help cover our event operating costs.  Due to this year's unique circumstances, we are taking the opportunity to ask our community members for help.

Please consider making a donation to Mochitsuki to show your support. Your contribution will help us ensure that our Mochitsuki tradition remains vibrant and strong for everyone to enjoy in the coming years. Thank you.
