Being a service member is possibly the greatest commitment to one's country that a person can perform. To put one's life on the line to protect the ideals of their country as well as the lives of the people they have bonds with back home is a sacrifice not many would voluntarily subject themselves to. And yet, when these people come home, there is often a distinct lack of support for their well-being, especially mentally. Returning to civilian life is a struggle for many veterans as the psychological trauma of war is often unacknowledged or neglected. Points for Patriots is an organization that seeks to alleviate both the awareness of the struggles that veterans face when returning home as well as the financial aspect of supporting them. The funds raised in this event are utilized in a variety of ways to support veterans, from ensuring their pets receive proper nutrition, to supporting military spouse businesses, and much more. However, the cause is not the only thing that Points for Patriots has to offer. PfP has granted me a community of irreplaceable friends and comrades in these affairs that I wouldn't give up for anything else in the world. No matter how small your donation is, all of it goes towards fostering a thriving community of students and veterans, and I hope you're as excited as I am for the near future.
