Please support the Jarjeer project.

All over the developing world, animals support poor families. Donkeys and mules in particular are used to carry heavy loads and toil in the fields in blistering heat.

Jarjeer Mules is a retirement home, orphanage and care centre for working equines in the foothills of the Atlas near Marrakech. We offer emergency medical care and sanctuary to the aged, disabled and abandoned donkey and mule. None of our donkeys or mules are ever tethered at Jarjeer. They enjoy real freedom for the first time in their lives! We are proud to have become a hub of kindness and compassion bringing together the local community, staff, visitors and those in need both equine and human.

Every amount donated, however small, is spent on the care of our animals at the refuge and supports our outreach work in local villages. Our current costs are £80,000 a month which includes food, building work and staff wages not to mention a huge veterinary bill!

We are visiting Marrakech from Florida. On our way to the Atlas Mountains, our guide, Latifa, pointed out the sign for Jarjeer. As an animal lover, and rescue junkie, I asked if we could stop by. Charles gave us a tour and we were very moved by all the gentle souls, for whom you are guardian angels. So very grateful for people like you and your staff.

A wonderful tour of Jarjeer from Charles today followed by a truly brilliant and interesting chat and glass of wine with both Susan and Charles to top it off perfectly, absolutely love everything that Jarjeer do for the working animals of Morocco, I have followed you for years and having the opportunity to see the work you do in person was a privilege. What a special place you have built. looking forward to helping in any way I can in the future. Warmest wishes Lauren

Dear Jarjeer! I am donating today towards the beautiful bay mare that Mohammed very kindly rescued today. Love to you all and I hope to back out there soon, with another bulging suitcase of bandages and an endless supply of polos xxx

“Just because an animal is large, it doesn’t mean he doesn’t want kindness; however big Tigger seems to be, remember that he wants as much kindness as Roo. (Winnie the Poo)

I have decided to donate some of my birthday money to this incredible charity after witnessing some of these poor creatures over worked and in poor condition whilst on holiday in Marrakesh. I hope that this helps with some of the work that you continue to do.

Your work is life changing for the 200+ equines lucky enough to be in your care, but it is also slowly changing attitudes towards all those working animals that are not so fortunate.

Thanks for your work, it really makes me happy that I can contribute so you can carry on helping these hard working animals. They really deserve a good retirement.

I loved visiting Marrakech but my heart broke when I saw the horrible conditions donkeys, horses and mules live under. I shed a lot of tears because I could tell these beautiful animals were in pain and suffering. And it was impossible to turn a blind eye. So grateful I got to visit your refugee and got to meet everyone in person and I spent time with these loving animals; to see they have a safe place to rest and spend their last days. I’ll spread the word and I hope you are able to rescue more :) thank you again ❤️ and by the way, Jasper, what a sweet and loving baby you are. Keep wagging your tail ❤️
