A brighter future for the kids of Suwung
PLASTIC ANGELS is a collaborative Art Project to support local charities RAGAM and BALI LIFE FOUNDATION to bring daily meals, clean water, health care & innovative education to kids of the trash pickers community of Bali who live in the island's biggest slum, at the foot of the giant trash mountain of Suwung.

SUPPORTING OUTSTANDING LOCAL CHARITIES
—-------------------------------------------------
RAGAM FOUNDATION has been cooking and distributing meals in Suwung for over a year now, but funds are running low and we need to make sure the program is maintained as the kids would be malnourished without this help.
BALI LIFE FOUNDATION has built a school in Suwung where the kids go everyday, a safe haven where they receive support and education so they don't have to go trash picking and get a chance for a brighter future.

CURRENT PROGRAM
—-------------------------------------------------
There are about 100 kids ages 7 to 12 who found a safe haven at the Bali Life Foundation in Suwung. For the time being, we are focusing on them, but there are older children in the community who we hope to include in our programs very soon.
Without Ragam's help, most of the kids will only eat white rice and sometimes not everyday. They also barely drink any water. Water in Suwung is highly contaminated and cannot be filtered. The children are frequently ill, have bad teeth, and require immediate medical attention.
Currently, Ragam and Bali Life deliver one meal and one gallon of water every four days. We need to make sure that this is maintained and we want to expand this to include two meals and three gallons per day in addition to a general health and dental examination with routine follow-up and treatments.

OTHER PROGRAMS
—-------------------------------------------------
Depending on the amount of funds raised, we hope to be able to develop new programs such as the creation of community gardens where they will learn to grow their own food, cooking classes, art and creativity classes, and more... Education is indeed their best chance to become independent one day and to never have to climb the trash mountain.
Get in touch if you want to know more or to help with those new programs.

USING ART & STORYTELLING TO RAISE AWARENESS
—-------------------------------------------------
Plastic Angels is an artistic collaboration between outstanding Indonesian and international artists to create artworks in a variety of media (video, photo, stencil, painting, sculpture, etc.) using plastic collected straight from Suwung’s trash mountain and the beaches and rivers of Bali.
Each piece of art portrays a child from the trash community, it is linked to their individual story with a QR code, which will allow to communicate with them and to follow the impact that our actions have on them.
Raising awareness around Bali’s hidden poverty and plastic pollution problems is of major importance as there is still an unacceptable amount of people who are unaware of the alarming proportion of those issues on the island. We want to shed the light on the incredible social and environmental impact organizations that have dedicated their lives to making a difference and working towards the changes that our world desperately needs.
