Goal
The Syracuse-Onondaga Food Systems Alliance (SOFSA) is a network of food system stakeholders and a catalyst for change. If you eat, grow, or just plain love food in Onondaga County, you are part of SOFSA. And we would love for you to become a larger part of our continued success!
As a coalition over the past two years, we have built a strong foundation for our network.
- We grew our network from 30 individuals formally engaged with SOFSA to nearly 300.
- We established bylaws and elected an Advisory Board to help lead our work.
- We hosted site visits to see great work happening across the county.
- We celebrated together at in-person and virtual events.
- We learned together about racism within the food system and worked to found an organization together that strives to dismantle systems of oppression.
We are inviting our network to join in supporting us to raise the required match to support our upcoming USDA proposal to expand our efforts together. The funds raised during this two-week "match-raising" campaign will directly contribute to strengthening our proposal and SOFSA's ability to secure more federal dollars to support our collective work toward food systems transformation. If funded, the grant will amplify the impact of your donation by 400%!
In the event that SOFSA's current USDA proposal isn't selected for funding, your contributions will be used to continue SOFSA's work of strengthening the CNY food system. With your support, we will continue to convene our network of stakeholders through Open Meetings and strategic working groups. These funds will also support SOFSA to advance new initiatives centered around farm to school, food rescue, and more! And we'll continue our work to build a more equitable food system through our justice initiatives, including our affinity groups and educational events. Your support will not go unnoticed and will help us in more ways than one, even if we are not selected for this grant.
We hope you'll consider making a donation in any amount to support these efforts!
