A SHORT BACKGROUND STORY

Through the last 8 years, wildly generous partners and friends have made it possible for us to keep serving the people of Ukraine, especially in this hour of great need and hurt.

Over the last nearly 5 years of war, we have rescued civilians from crisis areas through evacuation efforts, cared for displaced persons, and visited the frontlines for Christian ministry.

The Lord continued to pour out his grace. 3 years ago, we planted a new mission base in our city and opened a prayer room and a coffee house. We have cared for orphaned children, and young adults are finding the support they need to build their lives anew.

A budding community is forming, and young people are coming seeking discipleship. We realized that what is naturally forming is a church, not just a mission.

After much prayer and conversation, we received confirmation: At a weekly morning prayer, a well-known pastor turned to Dennis and asked if he was considering opening a church. Then he called the other local pastors in our city, and they gathered around Dennis and prayed that, if this was from God, He would reveal it and bless a new church plant!

WHAT DO WE NEED?

We do not have a building yet or the necessary equipment to open a full-fledged church. We estimated the costs for sound equipment, stage and sanctuary fixtures, Communion accessories, chairs, remodeling, and the first six months of rent at about $30,000 to establish a church.

Last year, our partners helped keep our coffee house doors open through a difficult economy. Because we reached our goal, our coffee house and prayer room have opened and fostered relationships that are now becoming a church. We are blessed to present this new opportunity to take this next step with us! Would you join hands with us to plant a church in Ukraine?

With love,

In Jesus forever,

Dennis & Anya Melnichuk and the entire Awakened Generation family
