Did you know breast cancer is the second most diagnosed cancer among U.S. women?
In fact, it affects one in eight women who live to the age of 80. Breast cancer accounts for 15 percent of all new cancer diagnoses and 7 percent of all cancer deaths each year. Early detection of breast cancer through mammography can reduce the chance of dying from breast cancer. Therefore, screening mammography is critical for all women. Sadly, some women are less likely than others to get screening mammograms. The main reason behind this is the lack of health insurance coverage.
That is why the Pink Ribbon Angels are committed to removing the financial obstacles that make it difficult for some women in our community to receive breast cancer screening and follow-up on abnormal mammograms.
Since 2009, the Pink Ribbon Angels Mammogram & Biopsy Program has provided mammograms and diagnostic resources to area residents who are uninsured or underinsured. In fact, to date, the Pink Ribbon Angels have funded more than 2,500 mammograms, diagnostic tests, and more than 500 screening appointments.
It takes a team to make a difference. Please consider becoming a monthly donor. However big or small your monthly support as a PRA Partner adds up and will save someone's life.
