Maine People's Housing Coalition Mutual Aid Fund

Since the Portland City Hall Encampment in Summer 2020, People's Housing Coalition has collected over $100,000 in mutual aid funds to support our unhoused neighbors and recently housed neighbors, primarily focused on people in the Portland area. PHC is a small-scale local effort built on relationships, led by organizers who have experienced chronic homelessness and supported by allies in our day-to-day operations.

As of November 2025, we're supporting individuals & families who have lost SNAP benefits with monthly stipends. Some SNAP recipients have received partial benefits, but others have not. We plan to keep this monthly support going, knowing that our community deserves reliable food beyond what state benefits will offer.

We use our general funds for water, food, medical supplies, phones, clothing, rental assistance for newly housed people and people facing evictions, and other emergent needs that may arise. Please follow us on Instagram and Facebook to learn more, and support our sister organization, Greater Bangor Houseless Collective.

We deeply appreciate your support!

We are fiscally sponsored by Southern Maine DSA.
