HEY YA’LL
As many of you know, last summer I had the opportunity to go to Zambia, Africa with an organization called Trail Missions. This organization is amazing and their purpose is to find, train and send unreached people. I have grown so much from last years trip and the Lord taught and showed me so many things through the people in Zambia. This year I have another opportunity to go back, but this time to help lead a group of college students.
Last year’s trip change my life forever, to say the least. From seeing little kids pray for the first time to seeing several people get delivered from years of bondage and addiction, this trip is a reminder that we are called to go and serve the people of the world, just like Jesus. One of my favorite memories from last year‘s trip is meeting a man named Joe. I met Joe at one of our bonfire night’s in the bush, and after dancing with him for over an hour, he asked me to pray for him. We went aside and as soon as I began to pray for him, he began to break down in tears and surrender his life to the Lord. As I watched this happened, I was brought to tears as well seeing his obedience and surrender. After we prayed for him, he got up and was full of joy and looked like a whole new person. The Sunday after, I had the privilege of baptizing him. This was one of the many stories that have stuck with me and will be in my heart forever!!
Our trip this year is from June 28 to July 8 and our Team name is Team “Kozo” which means “peace” in the Lozi language. My team and I will be flying from Phoenix, Arizona to Livingston, Zambia and while we are there we will be doing kids ministry at local preschools and primary schools, driving 3+ hours from the Trail Missions base to tent camp in “the bush” where we will be doing hut to hut evangelism, and where we will preach the gospel to people who have never heard of Jesus before. We will also grow in fellowship with one another and form unforgettable relationships with the translators and pastors at Trail Missions. In order to do this, we all need to raise money for the flights and resources for us to be able to do all of these things within these two weeks. Every dollar that is donated will go towards my fund to send me to Zambia and to help Trail Missions reach the unreached.
The Lord has been calling me to missions for the past couple of years now. Last summer I was blessed with the opportunity to go to both Zambia and Guatemala, and this summer I will be co-leading a team to go back to Zambia with Trail Missions. I believe that this is what the Lord has called me to do and who he has called me to be and I cannot wait to serve the Zambian people. I want to share two verses with you all because these are the verses that I want my life as a missionary and this trip to be about.
Would you all be praying for the Lord to prepare us in every way, and for him to use us to reach these unreached people.
“Though I am free and belong to no one, I have made myself a slave to everyone, to win as many as possible.”
1 Corinthians 9:19 NIV
“The Spirit of the Sovereign Lord is on me, because the Lord has anointed me to proclaim good news to the poor. He has sent me to bind up the brokenhearted, to proclaim freedom for the captives and release from darkness for the prisoners, to proclaim the year of the Lord’s favor and the day of vengeance of our God, to comfort all who mourn, and provide for those who grieve in Zion— to bestow on them a crown of beauty instead of ashes, the oil of joy instead of mourning, and a garment of praise instead of a spirit of despair. They will be called oaks of righteousness, a planting of the Lord for the display of his splendor.”
Isaiah 61:1-3 NIV
