Period Pad Supply and Education
Many young girls in rural villages throughout Africa are falling pregnant after having sex or being raped, in exchange for period pads. PRC has started a new program in rural Gambia directly with our own volunteers, to educate, help and give guidance about trafficking, exploitation and sex education. The program is fully voluntarily meaning the children are not forced to attend. They choose to attend as they are grateful someone has finally started to listen and help them.
We started the program in Kenya with 9 children, now there’s just over 100. Now with our wonderful volunteers in the Gambia we will build relations with locals to help the girls.
The rate of young girls giving birth in these remote villages is staggering and we must now help where we can. That's why we started this new program. Girls are provided with material and equipment including the donated sewing machine from PRC, to educate and make their own reusable period pads.
All donation for this fundraiser will be solely for this program, including education material, condoms and women's pads. As the program evolves, we will look at other options to provide a steady supply, including reusable pads to the girls in our programs.
As all of our programs and projects, 100% of your donation goes directly to that program or project. We will continue as always to be the most transparent in all we do.
