Patricia Haynes Smith - 2019 State Senate Campaign

For the past 10+ years I have served as the State Representative for District 67. This journey has had many challenges as well as many celebrations. 2019 marks my last year as a member of the House due to term limits but I know I have much more work to do. That's why I have officially decided to announce  that I am a candidate for the Senate for District 14. My senator, Yvonne Dorsey Colomb is also term limited and is wholeheartedly supporting me in this effort.

Women are becoming a vital part of the fabric of the political sphere and I want to do my part to continue to raise Louisiana's numbers to become more representative  of the rich diverse population we have here in the state. Women represent only 14.6% of the legislative members and we have the third smallest number in the country. I definitely don't want to see the numbers diminish so I am looking forward to representing the constituents in Senate District 14 in 2020.
