Partners in Hope
Restoring Hope Roanoke is working to equip and connect churches so that together the Hope of Christ reaches all communities in the Roanoke Valley.
In the Fall of 2019, we contacted the director of the English language program at American National University about connecting their international students with local individuals as conversation partners. With the help of folks from Grace Church and other churches, this has led to some great friendships, and even opportunities some would never have imagined. One student, a young widow, had come to Roanoke with her teen daughter to learn English but to also keep her late husband's relatives from taking her daughter, a cultural norm in her country. Soon after arriving she came down with the Zika virus. Women from Grace Church jumped in with meals for them. Once the COVID virus came and we were all forced into isolation, this student was invited to come live with a very generous family so that she and her daughter would not feel alone during the crisis. God equips us when needed to do his will, in this case "to visit the orphans and widows in their affliction" (James 1:27).
We greatly appreciate your gift today to partner with us in continuing to bring the Hope of Christ to the Roanoke region.
