Goal
Across the U.S., young people are bursting with ideas. When school connects to who they are and what they care about, they lean in, lead, and thrive.
Open Way Learning partners with schools and districts to co-design learning that is hands-on, purpose-driven, and community-connected, especially in places rebuilding after disruption and in communities too often overlooked. We use a design-based approach that always starts with local strengths that can be amplified and scaled.
Your gift fuels that transformation — from the classroom to the community.
How Your Gift Helps Amplify and Scale OWL’s Impact
WNC Resilience Project
OWL’s flagship, region-wide learning initiative that is turning adversity into opportunity by co-designing resilient, student-centered learning with schools and communities, especially in places rebuilding after Hurricane Helene. Not a plug-and-play program but a collaborative invitation, WNCRP honors local strengths in WNC communities while providing flexible coaching, convenings, and open-source tools so teams can run small tests of change across six strands (experiential recovery learning, credentialing, SEL, leadership, partnerships, scaling) and grow what works. OWL is overseeing this cross-district work in partnership with other well-known state and regional and statewide partners such as The Leon Levine Foundation, SparkNC, Education Reimagined, the NC Public Forum, RootEd, and others.
Alongside WNCRP, initiatives like Together We Learn help school teams redesign learning around student strengths and passions, connecting classes to real community needs. These efforts are making a real, lasting difference - the kind of work OWL is known for nationwide. Your support is an investment in educators and communities building the future with students, not just for them - and it helps bring this impact to more schools and more classrooms.
Your gift helps us:
Equip educator teams to run design sprints and craft hands-on, passion-driven learning.
Coach schools in resilience-based practice (belonging, safety, trauma-informed design) - the foundation of deep learning.
Connect students with mentors, partners, and authentic projects linked to local needs and lifelong skills.
Share open-source tools and resources so innovative approaches spread organically across schools and districts.
Join Us. Together, we can make learning more relevant, joyful, and resilient for more students in more communities.
