Goal

According to the American Cancer Society, approximately 15,000 children are diagnosed with cancer each year. And when I was 15 years old, my 13 year old cousin was diagnosed and tragically lost his battle to cancer in about one week.

Project Outrun, an Akron based nonprofit, started as a simple idea back in 2016, inspired by one courageous little girl who battled and beat cancer on three occasions. The simple idea? If this child has the right shoes, then she can use them to outrun cancer. One detail that makes these shoes special is that SHE got to design them. Since then, Project Outrun has supported thousands of children (we refer to them as athletes) across the country by enabling them to design a special pair of shoes and gear that can be worn during their individual battles with pediatric cancer.

I'm fundraising for Project Outrun while I train for the Cleveland Marathon because I want to help cover the cost of providing at least 10 kids with custom shoes and swag provided by Project Outrun. I believe that my cousin would have loved a custom pair of Nike shoes, but since he didn't get the chance I will honor him by supporting others.

Anything you're able to give will truly make a difference to a child currently battling cancer and I'm incredibly gratefully for your support!
