Out of this world!
Rosh Chodesh Adar 5777
February 25, 2017
Dear Friends,
Good Chodesh! It is time for us to taste Olam HaBa in this world!
I remind you of the Maos Chitim campaign we began this morning, and the desperate straits in which our neighbors find themselves. As I pointed out this morning, we should seize the opportunity to participate in the greatest of Mitzvos, to demonstrate our priorities, our sense of gratitude, our care for one another, and to stretch ourselves to help our brothers and sisters.
The funds raised in this tzedakah initiative are devoted to bringing relief to financially needy families in our community. These funds do not travel far to bring critical help to struggling families, and they are blended with the earnest efforts of many volunteers to help these families establish their independence. More than ever, these needy families are our neighbors, their children are our children’s classmates, they daven in our shul, and they live on our blocks. How could we not do our utmost to ease their burdens? How can we expect to sit down joyously at our Seder in six weeks without insuring that all the Jewish families in our community are cared for?
Every dollar collected in our annual Maos Chitim campaign will be distributed under the personal supervision of the gabbaii tzedakah and me. Of course, should you become aware of someone in need, please let me know.
The needs of those single-parent families, working poor, mechanchim, Talmidei Chachamim, and others continue throughout the year, but we use this Maos Chitim campaign as a springboard for chesed all year long, so this is our major campaign. We have set the bar high, as we seek to raise $100,000. Please help even more than in the past, even if it's a struggle or a sacrifice, as the needs are severe.
In the zechus of acting out of compassion, may Hashem have compassion on us, and grant us good health, success, wisdom, and opportunities to perform even more acts of kindness. And just as we take care of Hakadosh Baruch Hu’s children, so may He care for all of us and our children.
Thank you.
Bracha v’hatzlacha,
Pinchas Chatzinoff
