Orphan Scholarships

Orphan Support Can Open Education’s Doors

What happens to orphans living at St. Gertrude’s in Sumbawanga or Kilimahewa who work hard to gain an education in elementary school? High school takes money. A friend of FOI donated $10,000 to cover the costs of an orphan pursuing secondary education, estimated at $2,500 for 4 years (room, board, clothing, tuition and expenses). Other donors have followed. The funds are being disbursed and the students are shining!

FOI established a high school scholarship fund for orphans. This opens the door for qualified students, a welcome opportunity!

NEW! University Scholarships! (7/23)

These girls, now scholarship students at Imiliwaha's St. Gertrude secondary school, have their sights set on higher education. (hear their dreams, 2.5 min). The FOI board realizes that a special group of scholars (orphans and impoverished students) will aim for university education but be unable to afford it. The board set up a special University fund for this purpose.
