Goal
At openSAR.net, our mission is to help people learn about and benefit from technology. The primary goal is to make technology accessible for all. Our projects and programs focus on breaking down technology into small pieces so that anyone over the age of 10 can learn it. (Or younger with help) We will open design tools, products, procedures, and training content and it will be released it for free on our online communities.
Our first project is to develop a sUAS, or small unmanned aerial system, that is able to be produced by 3D printing. This means that crashes are less costly and the initial costs are much lower.
Some items we are fundraising for:
- FLIR Vue Pro R Thermal Camera
- Antenna Tracker
- sUAS motors, escs, batteries ect
- RGB Zoom Camera
- 3D printers for our communities to use.
- The first ones we purchase are going to our Training programs and PNW SAR members to start testing.
- + $ for sUAS (drones) for YOUR local communities.
- Cloud server time for our Learning Management Suite and Website
Did you know?
That most local Search and Rescue teams are self funded non-profits? Some teams have so little money that when searchers drive out to save/look for a victim, it's their gas money and lunch money out of their pocket. Essentially they are personally paying to search for a victim.
openSAR.net pledges to always think of our local communities. Because of that, everyone is welcome. On https://opensar.net you will find our contact information and lots more project information.
