Summer 2025

Hard to believe that it’s been ten years since Meghan and I founded The Octavia Project! The OP uses the power of creativity and community to empower young women and trans and nonbinary youth in Brooklyn to imagine new worlds and envision bold futures with free summer programming that blends creative writing, STEM, and much more.  

We can talk about inclusion and diversity in science fiction until our ears turn blue, but until we start investing in the creative imagination of young people, it will only be idle talk. 

  I started the OP because of my commitment to creating spaces for young women, trans, and nonbinary youth to learn STEM skills, create art, and create bold new futures. To celebrate ten years of the Octavia Project, I have a personal goal of raising $10,000.  (I HAVE ALREADY RAISED 1K TOWARD THIS GOAL ON INSTAGRAM! THANK YOU SO TO ALL WHO DONATED!)
