After acting as Program Manager for the high schoolers in the summer institute program, I joined the Octavia Project advisory board to continue to support this amazing and much-needed free resource for NYC youth. Honoring the work of Octavia E. Butler, the Octavia Project is a free summer program for middle and high school young women, nonbinary and trans youth. The Octavia Project uses science fiction as a vehicle for participants to explore stem and the arts. 🔬🤖🎨🖌️

Over the years, I’ve watched OP participants grow in their confidence, build community among one another, and learn new skills that they’ve never tried before. From urban planning and coding to comics and architecture, the Octavia Project creates a space where participants can learn from women and nonbinary professionals in STEAM fields.

As the Octavia Project enters into its tenth year, I want to continue to give back to this amazing program and I hope that you’ll join me! Please help us reach our 2024 appeal goal of $40,000 so that the Octavia Project may support NYC youth for the years to come.
