Goal

Our team is dedicated to being an ally to our friends in Kenya. We committed to being advocates and a source of support for GRACE Nanana, Ruben Centre, and Kajiado Child Care Centre back in 2017. Now, as they wade through the impacts of a global pandemic and historical drought, we're stepping up in a big way. We want to raise $500,000 as a team by 9/30/2022. We can do it, we should do it, and we believe that - with the help of our friends, neighbors, families, and networks - we will do it. Welcome to the challenge, we're so glad you're part of #OneTeam for Kenya.

Back in 2016, through an organization founded by a couple of our clients, we came to know and love the people and missions of three nonprofits that align with Brighton Jones’ commitment to helping vulnerable children pursue an education:

GRACE Nanana’s mission is to empower vulnerable members of the community through sensitization and education for meaningful participation in building a just and equitable society. The campus serves as a refuge for girls who come from many counties seeking an education instead of following the illegal but still practiced Maasai traditions of early marriage and female circumcision, or FGM. The girls arrive at the center without the support of their families and are completely reliant on GRACE Nanana to provide necessities such as clothing, food, and books, as well as tuition to support higher education.

Kajiado Child Care Centre, or KCC, is a pillar of hope in rural Kajiado County. Children with disabilities born to the strong and nomadic Maasai people are sometimes stigmatized and seen as a burden to their families, and KCC is working to change this by helping children reach their full potential through rehabilitation, accommodation, education, and empowerment.

Ruben Centre serves over 3,200 of Nairobi’s most vulnerable children, offering them education, food, and programming to support them in their mission to liberate children through education and empowerment. Brighton Jones uniquely supports the Ruben Improved Scheme of Education (RISE) program by offering extracurricular activities such as orchestra, gymnastics, scout and daycare on days and times when the center is closed and children are most vulnerable to the realities of life in an urban settlement.

As a company, we were inspired to do something big – and we asked the entire Brighton Jones community to join us. Over the course of a year, clients made generous donations and our team members came up with clever ways to fundraise, culminating in our team raising more than $150,000 to build the Brighton Jones Global Guesthouse. The Guesthouse opened its doors in January 2018 and has made it possible for countless volunteers to visit the rural community of Kajiado and provide invaluable skills and expertise, as well as serving as a source of sustainable income for KCC and GRACE Nanana.

This was the first and only campaign we’ve mobilized for our partners in Kenya – until now!

The schools and their amazing missions which we support in Kenya are part of our mission at Brighton Jones; we are in global community with them. We can do big things when we act collectively, and we cannot wait to see the magic that comes from this team effort.
