On the Runway- Familiar Faces

Each year, the Ann’s Place development team chooses someone at the organization to walk the runway and to help raise money for the clients at Ann’s Place.  This year, I have the honor to be a part of what makes it possible to do the work I do, which is to support my clients through providing individual counseling sessions, facilitating a bereavement support group called Holding Space for Grief, facilitating a women’s breast cancer support group called Women Together, and coordinating our free wig program.  Through my work at Ann’s Place and because of our generous donors, I am able to provide all of the above services free of charge, and can help support individuals and their loved ones as they navigate a cancer diagnosis. Grief is a word we don’t talk enough about in the world. Grief can be felt during any type of loss including, impending loss, life changes, and in a terminal/chronic health diagnosis, and it can feel very isolating and at times, too heavy to carry on your own. It is my hope for all people and their loved ones who are navigating a cancer diagnosis to know that they do not have to carry it on their own, and that Ann's Place is here to support them.

This year, I am dedicating my participation in On the Runway-Familiar Faces, to all my past and present client’s at Ann’s Place, and in honor of my Father, Bill West, who bravely faced his cancer diagnosis for 10 years, until he passed in 2019.  I carry him with me in my heart and in all the work I do to support the people and families I meet at Ann’s Place.
