Our Story:

Northend Christian CDC (NECCDC) proudly oversees the Oakland Avenue Urban Farm (OAUF) and stands as the visionary force behind the Detroit Cultivator Community Land Trust (DCCLT). As the inaugural legally formed community land trust in Detroit, DCCLT safeguards over 50 city lots and 8 structures—approximately seven acres held in trust for the public good.

The North End Community Resource Center (NECRC):

With the generous backing of the Knight Foundation, we've reimagined one of our structures into the NECRC—a hub of interdisciplinary collaboration rooted in socially engaged design. This center, crafted in partnership with luminaries like Design Core Detroit, UM’s Taubman Public Design Corps, College for Creative Studies, and the Detroit Justice Center, stands as a testament to our unwavering commitment to pioneering and equitable development.

Triumphs of Phase 1 and Aspirations for Phase 2:

As Phase 1 nears completion, our dynamic space includes a kitchenette, ADA-compliant facilities, computer stations, and an innovation station. Now, with your support, we're preparing for Phase 2—a phase that envisions a farm silo lift, container expansions, green rooftops, floor-to-ceiling glass views, a rooftop seating area, and a vibrant community courtyard. The NECRC serves as a vital link in Detroit's agri-art alleyway, connecting the community to green outdoor spaces while providing educational opportunities and workshops.
