ABOUT
The NYC Mid-Autumn Fest is a day-long celebration of the Harvest Moon holiday, one of the biggest holidays for Asian-American families. Every year the festival showcases Asian-American music and art while raising money to help our community, because it is possible to do good and have a good time at the same time.
This year we are raising money for The Asian American Legal Defense and Education Fund (AALDEF), a national organization founded in 1974, that protects and promotes the civil rights of Asian Americans. Your support helps us pay our talented performers and artists fairly, while protecting those who need it most. Join us in celebrating culture, creativity, justice, and civil rights.
WHY
Our goal is to raise $30,000, through which will benefit:
- AALDEF, a national organization founded in 1974, that protects and promotes the civil rights of Asian Americans
- The Mid-Autumn Festival, so the event becomes a reality. Our mission is to uplift the Asian-American creative community by creating spaces for them to share their art and, importantly, to help them get paid for it so that they can keep making more.

ABOUT AALDEF
Since its founding, AALDEF has been on the frontlines of defending and advancing the rights of Asian American communities—from advocating for reparations for Japanese Americans, to challenging post-9/11 attacks on Muslim communities, to confronting anti-Asian violence during the COVID-19 pandemic.
Our model for change is centered on community lawyering and uplifting the voices and needs of local Asian American communities to drive progress at the local, regional and national level. Our team of lawyers and advocates believe in the using the law as a tool for change—and in the power of Asian American communities to lead that change. Whether in courtrooms, in the halls of governments, or in the streets, AALDEF is building a future where Asian Americans and all communities can thrive.
Our work includes:
- Litigating cases that have major impacts on Asian American communities;
- Serving as the legal arm of grassroots Asian American organizations across the country, providing legal resources and support that facilitate grassroots community organizing efforts;
- Making the law accessible for Asian American communities—especially low-income Asian Americans and new immigrants—by creating multilingual legal resources and conducting free, multilingual legal clinics;
- Leading advocacy efforts around legislation and governmental policies that impact Asian American communities;
- Working in coalition with other communities of color to fight for the civil rights of all our communities; and
- Cultivating the next generation of Asian American civil rights lawyers by training young attorneys to use AALDEF’s community-centered model to advance justice and systemic change.
