Team Hope Story - TCS New York City Marathon 2025

Did you know that parents who receive a Down syndrome diagnosis are commonly greeted with "I'm sorry" during their hospital stay after giving birth?  Some are not congratulated a single time, as though they were holding a burden rather than a baby.

Please give to provide hope to families of children with Down syndrome.

Hope Story works with expecting parents who are feeling hopeless after receiving a diagnosis- parents who reach out in sadness due partly to what and how they were told about their baby's condition.

Hope Story also directly provides education to the medical providers that interact with expecting parents, even hosting discussions with local families who can share their experience receiving a diagnosis, helping move the focus up from the textbook to the people.

Yes, there are difficulties specific to having a child with Down syndrome, and medical providers are crucial in caring for our kids.  It's important that they tell us the facts, including the truth about the hard parts.  But, it's also true that people with Down syndrome are awesome and bring so much joy to those around them.
