Hi Everyone, 

I’m Mia, and I’m 10 years old. I go to Mandurah Baptist College, and this year, I’m on a special mission to help Back Pack Buddies at Bridge Builders, just like my big brother did. Back Pack Buddies is a local program that packs weekend backpacks of food for hungry/needy kids in our Peel region. It costs $20 per bag and right now we pack 100 bags a week for 220 kids all over the Peel Region & we have just have just branched into Rockingham. These bags have 3 x nutritionally balanced meals per child, per day for 2 days over the weekend and are delivered to the children’s school’s. As a house captain at my school this year, I really want to use my leadership to help them. 

I’ve been volunteering with Bridge Builders for over a year, and it’s been amazing! I am also one of the youngest members on the Junior Board. My brother Nate raised $2,400 last year but I’d just like to feed 2 kids for a year. It’s really hard to think about kids who go home to find empty pantries, but sadly, that’s the reality for many kids right here in the Peel region. I’m determined to help them. My biggest goal this year is to provide food for two kids for an entire year. 

If you have any spare change, it would mean the world to me but mostly it would mean so much to the kids who need it most. This is our chance to make a difference right in our own backyard, and every little bit helps.
