Goal

Westport is a Baltimore neighborhood with deep roots and a powerful story — home to the legacy of the Negro Leagues' Baltimore Black Sox baseball team, and now the future site of new, cultural landmarks along the Middle Branch waterfront.

Nosreme Baltimore is creating the Baltimore Black Sox Heritage Mural — a large-scale public artwork honoring the 1929 Negro League Champions at Westport Light Rail Station. This will be a permanent public art installation in a growing cultural corridor along the Middle Branch waterfront.

The mural is also a story of international exchange. Baltimore muralist kolpeace and Rotterdam muralist Naomi King are partnering on a first-of-its-kind cross-cultural collaboration — each spending time in the other's city, working alongside local youth and residents to co-create murals that reflect both communities. What gets painted in Westport will be shaped by the people who live here, and it will carry Baltimore's story all the way to the Netherlands.

This is the beginning of a two-city project. A companion mural will follow in Rotterdam — making Westport not just a neighborhood landmark, but a point on a global map.

Baltimore-Rotterdam Sister City Committee is supporting this project, highlighting this team’s legacy. The Baltimore Black Sox are also being  celebrated in a future Memorial project led South Baltimore Gateway Partnership and Parks & People Foundation as a part of the Reimagine Middle Branch initiative. These organizations are honored to celebrate the team’s historic legacy and amplify the significance of both public art projects.

The Nosreme Model

Since 2022, we have proven our model works. We have raised over $120,000 for community-led art and paid more than 35 local artists and creatives for their work

Your donation to Nosreme goes directly to community engagement workshops, fair artist compensation, and materials — ensuring Westport residents help shape this mural from day one.

This campaign represents the community fundraising portion of the project. Major funding is being secured through grants and institutional partnerships.

Your donation today is more than a gift. It is an investment in the future of Baltimore's creative economy. It is a commitment to the artists who define our city's soul.
