While David was part of Connecting Champions years ago and met with a college basketball player, he reenrolled in the program now that he’s in college to learn what it would take for him to pursue his dreams of becoming a game warden. We found the perfect match for David in Josh, a New York State Department of Environmental Conservation officer. During their calls, Josh shares the highs and lows of the job, sharing wild stories of crimes people have committed while also helping David throughout his school work. David has made two trips up to New York to meet with Josh. During the first, they searched for a nuisance deer in a residential neighborhood and had the best Mexican food. In their most recent visit, Josh asked some of his department colleagues to take him and David out on a boat to make sure that everyone fishing had the appropriate licenses. Every call, Josh reminds David that he is always welcome to make the trip up north and work in his department after he finishes his college program.
