Jasmine was looking to further her experience and knowledge in screen writing and storytelling. We paired her with Allison, a writer and filmmaker based in California, who was working on sharing her family’s story through a short film documentary. Allison and Jasmine hit it off from the very first meeting, empathizing with each other about the painful parts and joyous moments in their own stories. After Jasmine shared interest in sharing her own cancer journey through a short film, Allison introduced her to Andrea (pictured above), who had just won an award for her own screenplay about her very own cancer journey. Jasmine was able to ask Andrea questions about the rewarding and difficult parts of sharing her cancer journey - and what it felt like to process her experiences through writing a screenplay.
