Goal
This September, Nick Higgins will take on a 650-mile trek through New Hampshire and Vermont, linking the White Mountain Direttissima, the Cohos Trail, and Vermont’s Long Trail into one continuous journey called the Wôbanaki Lakann Trail. Hiking an average of 31 miles a day with 135,000 feet of elevation gain, Nick is dedicating each step to the Abenaki people—the “People of the Dawn Land”—and to his late friend Chris “Rafiki” Roma, whose spirit of adventure and community continues to inspire.
Through this journey, Nick is raising $10,000 for MissionCleanWater, a nonprofit with a 100% success rate in keeping clean water systems running. These funds will directly support five water system rehabilitations in Uganda, restoring clean water access to over 3,000 people. Rehabilitation means more than fixing a pump—it ensures long-term management so systems never fail again. By donating, you’re not just fueling Nick’s steps; you’re bringing clean water, health, and opportunity to families who need it most.

Hey this is Jbro Outdoors. I met you the other morning in the parking lot at Waterville Valley. Happy to donate to a great cause and inspired by your comments about your friend Rafiki. I also lost a friend to an accident in the Whites (RIP Ned Green) and I agree that accidents can happen to even the very experienced.
