Support Abortion Access in Virginia

Based in Blacksburg, Va, the New River Abortion Access Fund operates a volunteer-run helpline that provides financial and logistical support for people living in or traveling to Virginia who cannot afford an abortion. We also provide funding for callers living in nearby communities of Appalachia.

We believe that autonomy is a non-negotiable human right. It should not be a privilege reserved for the few who can afford it. No one should be forced to carry a pregnancy to term because of their income level, race, gender, zip code, sexual orientation, disability, or immigration status. If you need help paying for an abortion, call or text (833) 672-2310.

Only 3% of the $912 million of funding for reproductive rights goes directly to abortion funds. Helpline volunteers respond to dozens of requests for funding each week, yet they are only able to pledge to a handful of callers. Resources are limited and we can't do this work without you. Funding abortion is mutual aid. If you believe healthcare, including abortion care, is a basic human right, investing in your local abortion fund is the best way to ensure people in your community can access the care they need.

Please consider becoming a monthly donor. As little as $20-$25/month will fund one abortion each year. When we come together to fund abortion access and build collective power, we can achieve so much.

$25-$30 will cover the cost of gas or a ride to the clinic.

$50 will pay for a round-trip bus ticket.

$80-$100 will cover the cost of a hotel room for someone who has to travel out of town for their abortion.

$200-$250 will cover the average pledge amount for one caller.

$500 will cover the average cost of a first-trimester surgical abortion.

$5,500 will cover a week's worth of calls on the helpline.
