New Maternity Facility - total completion

For 20 years we have been dedicated to increasing healthcare outcomes for mothers giving birth and babies in our region of Northern Ghana. Mothers from 70 communities in our district are reliant on the services we provide. We are the only Maternity Unit that most of them can access. Newborns are 10 times more likely to die in Ghana than in the UK. We want to radically change those outcomes.

In 2020 we completed a £40,000 fundraising campaign to see the new maternity building partially open and deliver the first baby in the unit. In 2021 our match-funded campaign saw £100,000 raised to see our delivery theatre, special care baby unit and pharmacy opened. The money has been raised and the building work will be complete by March 2023. Thank you to everyone who has donated.    

Our final objective is to fully open the building debt free. Our desire is to provide the best possible maternity care in rural Northern Ghana. Our final objectives are to complete the electrics, flooring and external building environment. Once complete we can direct our resources to our other medical services e.g. nutrition and hospital.
