New Maternity Facility - Theatre, NICU, Pharmacy

We are launching a match funding campaign to raise £100,000 to open the brand new delivery theatre, specialist neonatal care unit and dedicated pharmacy for the communities we serve. Every £1 you donate will be doubled.

In December 2021, thanks to our supporters, we had the joy of partly opening our Maternity Unit, including the delivery rooms and wards. Since then we have seen 585 babies born, 31% increase from last year. The new facilities are a dramatic improvement on the old services. We now have 21 midwives working for us.

For 20 years we have been dedicated to increasing healthcare outcomes for mothers giving birth and babies in our region of Northern Ghana. Mothers from 70 communities in our district are reliant on the services we provide. We are the only Maternity Unit that most of them can access. Newborns are 10 times more likely die in Ghana than in the UK. We want to radically change those outcomes.

Our next goal is to open a dedicated delivery theatre for Caesarean sections and complex births, currently these operations take place in our main hospital, which only has one operating theatre. Plus we are excited to open the first Neonatal Care Unit in our region of Ghana, this will offer much better prospects for premature and sick babies. Finally, we will open a well equipped pharmacy that will serve all our local communities.

£100,000 will accomplish all these goals and save many many lives. £50,000 has been pledged to match fund all your donations up to the amount. Basically, every £1 you donate gets doubled.
