Goal
At the start of 2020 my wife, Julie, and I began searching for a cat. After visiting different shelters and other rescues we finally went to The Catcade. During our initial visit there weren't any solo cats, but we were approached by Chris & Shelly who invited us back the next day as more cats would be coming. We came back the following day and quickly fell in love with "Stripes" who eventually became Zoey! Our world changed as COVID hit 3 days after we picked her up and we quickly began spending every minute with her by our side. All that to say, 3+ years later Zoey remains such a significant part of our life and the Catcade maintains a special place in our heart so we're asking for your support in donating to their new building to save more cats and impact more lives like Julie & Is.
We are also raising money in conjunction with me running the Chicago Marathon this October. It has become a tradition for me to participate in it, and this year would like to run for more than just the beer & donuts afterwards but the cats too.
Thank you!
The Catcade bought a building...and now we need your help!
Our mission is to provide a second chance to the abandoned and neglected cats and kittens from county intake shelters. You may have looked through our windows and saw a cat missing a leg or an eye and yeah, so what. We take the wonky ones because they are more likely to get overlooked. We’ve dreamed of a larger facility where we can provide even more care and support and give them the opportunity for a future. These are the children the great American poet, Whitney, sang about in 1986. We teach them well so they can lead the way. Actually, don’t follow them. They eat food off the floor and don’t even know their multiplication tables. But with this new building, our dream is becoming a reality. And if you have ever wondered how you could help make a difference for the abandoned cats and kittens of the world, well this is your opportunity to put some good karma back into the world.
