How You Can Help
Blake needs to raise $500 to purchase an ISBN package for the publication of 4 books and offset the initial printing cost for 20 Stories of Breaking Chains and Overcoming Adversity.
The Need
Blake is releasing these books in early 2020:
- Breaking Chains: How to Turn Adversity into Tools of Freedom. This is a new and improved version of his 2017 book.
- The redesigned version of 99 Motivational Quotes to Break Your Chains.
- Breaking Chains Mastermind Workbook. This workbook can be used individually or in a coaching setting to enhance the reflections found in Breaking Chains: How to Turn Adversity into Tools of Freedom.
- 20 Stories of Breaking Chains and Overcoming Adversity. This brand new book includes 20 inspirational and entertaining stories of how Blake overcame adversity and achieved his goals.
Every book in the world that wishes to be sold in retail stores is required to have an ISBN. In order for Blake to release these four books and list his company, Blake B. Shelley International LLC, as the publisher, he needs to purchase an ISBN package.
What is an ISBN?
An International Standard Book Number (ISBN) is a unique identifier for books, ebooks, and CDs that provides critical information such as the name of the publisher. Each format or edition of a book is required to have a unique ISBN.
Price Breakdown:
- $295 for the 10 ISBN Package. This provides the best value for what this project requires as it costs $125 for an individual ISBN. This bundle will reduce the cost of each ISBN number to $29.50, as well as provide enough identifiers for these products and future books.
- $205 will allow Blake to print an initial run of 75 copies of 20 Stories of Breaking Chains and Overcoming Adversity.
The Benefits
For gifts of $25 or greater, you will receive a copy 20 Stories of Breaking Chains and Overcoming Adversity upon release and Blake will donate a copy to a young adult with a disability through the Transition Department at the Shriners Hospital for Children in Portland, OR.
The Story
Blake B. Shelley is an author, motivational speaker, and an expert on overcoming adversity and achieving success through planning and self-reflection. His determination to overcome his obstacles has produced a passion for helping others through writing, speaking, and philanthropy.
At the age of six months, Blake was diagnosed with Cerebral Palsy (CP), which was due to a lack of oxygen at birth. The Mayo Clinic defines Cerebral Palsy as a disorder of movement, muscle tone, or posture that is caused by an insult to the immature, developing brain, most often before birth. CP has made everyday tasks (ADLs) such as eating, walking, and typing extremely difficult. However, it has also taught him how to persevere while not being defined by a disability. It was ingrained in Blake by his parents and support system to never give up on his goals.
Since 2012 Blake has used his experience to inspire and teach others how to reach their goals. In 2017, Blake published his first book, Breaking Chains: The Six Links of Turning Bondage into Tools of Freedom. He then published his second book, 99 Motivational Quotes to Break Your Chains, in 2018.
Over the past year, Blake has been hard at work updating his current content and creating new books to make his message more accessible, using the feedback from clients and focus groups facilitated by an outside organization.

Stretch Goal
Beyond the publication of these four books, Blake's goal is to simplify and improve the printing process by switching from a print on demand company to a printing company that offers bulk discounts. In order to make this switch, Blake needs an additional $4,500. Any gifts that are given after the $500 goal is met will be applied towards the stretch goal.
