Gary Schroeder Jr - September Suicide Awareness Walk

On April 17, 2023, this world lost Gary Schroeder Jr. Gary was a retired police officer and firefighter who battled against PTSD until the day he died of suicide. 

Gary was a father, husband, and son. He was loved by many, and admired by countless more for his courage and inspiring battle against PTSD. 

Though I knew Gary through the community and the fire department, PTSD hits closer to home for me, my husband fights this battle every day, after 20 years on Zumbrota Fire and several years on Zumbrota Area Ambulance he saw his fair share.  I have so many people close to me that battle mental illness please talk to people and know we support you.  It is ok to not be ok, if you are struggling please reach out, you matter and are so important.  Use the 988 text or call line. 

Suicide is the leading cause of death among first responders, please help bring awareness and support to those that need it.
