Neighbors United for Mutual Support (Form)
Neighbors United for Mutual Support is a mutual aid program that supports our new neighbors–mostly from Venezuela and Colombia, but also from elsewhere. Most of our capacity goes to our legal clinic, where we assist new neighbors to complete and file asylum applications and work permits (which can be applied for 150 days after the asylum application is submitted.) Once their asylum applications are filed, asylum-seekers are protected from deportation until their case is adjudicated.
In addition to these core legal services, NUMS provides material assistance like donations of clothes and housing items, rent assistance and more.
All donations are processed through our fiscal sponsor, First Presbyterian Church of Chicago.

I am donating from the UK because I want you to know that I want to show solidarity with my American friends. I have been following what is happening over there and find it deeply upsetting. I fear that the seeds of antipathy towards immigrant communities in the US are being sown over here with the rise of populism. God Bless America

The family of 5 that we were unofficially sponsoring for 2 years. just got Asylum until 2029. The stress is very hard to manage. We met Maureen through RCC in 2023 and she volunteered to help them initially in 2023. Thank you all so much for all of this .From the bottom of our hearts. Restores my faith to see humanity in action. Especially when the road to that can be so harsh.

This matching donation was inspired by Quintin, whose plant sale and donation to NUMS is a shining example of how one person can make a big difference. Thank you, Quintin and NUMS!

My name is Quintin. When I was in 1st grade at Ancona, and Trump became president, I worried about the migrants in our community, particularly families being separated. I set a goal to grow and sell 100 plants to earn $500 to support the migrants in our community. I started planning in January and sold my plants in June. I am proud to say that I reached my goal and am giving the $500 to Neighbors United for Mutual Support.
