COVID-19 Mutual Aid Relief Fund
Millions of workers have been sent home without pay. The most precarious are facing evictions, utility shut-offs, missed payments, and other looming economic catastrophes. That's why NC Piedmont DSA has partnered with Carrboro Mutual Aid and Mutual Aid Disaster Relief efforts in the Triangle to create the COVID-19 Mutual Aid Relief Fund. Money given to this fund will be used to support workers facing serious disruption because they've been kept home without pay. Any remaining funds will be used to support relief efforts for stricken individuals who cannot leave their homes for food or other necessities. If any funds remain after the COVID-19 disaster, they will be used for future disaster relief efforts.
Right now, we are responding to requests for aid with fixed-size grants of $150 dollars. This amount is based on cash on hand, so the more we raise, the more we're able to give people.
