It is an exciting time at our New Britain Public Library. Our outstanding library staff is making great progress in connecting with individuals and organizations throughout New Britain, with a particular focus on our younger community members. We are learning about community aspirations and how the library can best support these going forward, as well as raising the awareness of what the library currently has to offer. Thanks to a donation from one of our beloved community members, the library will be acquiring an outreach vehicle, which will greatly expand our capacity to visit our local schools and community events, deepening our connections throughout New Britain.
We are also in the process of building a brand new library website, a project that has been funded by donations from generous New Britain residents like you. The new website, our online branch library, is vital to keeping New Britain informed about programs and services, as well as providing easy access to our collection of eBooks, eAudiobooks and other electronic resources.
Over the past few months, we have completed the restoration of the terracotta exterior of the Main Library’s historic Erwin Building, and we are moving on to rehabilitate its roof, followed by roof replacement projects for our other two buildings. We are also assessing our library spaces and developing them to expand the opportunities for community gatherings and other uses. One of our first steps is the creation of five new meeting and study rooms on the first floor.
We very much value your generosity as we work everyday to create an ever-evolving public library, and we always welcome the opportunity to engage in conversation about your aspirations for New Britain and how the library may be able to help support those ideas. Thank you for your support!
