Bernalillo County Sheriff's Office K9 Nordy was injured last night after the filming of REELZ LIVE On Patrol and following a barricade incident. 

The suspect Jebrene Garcia arrived at the home belonging to her sister's ex-boyfriend and forcibly made entry by removing an air conditioning unit from a front window. Once inside, she armed herself with a large kitchen knife and hid. Jebrene was in a physical altercation with the home's occupants before they could escape. Jebrene remained agitated and noncompliant with efforts to take her into custody. SWAT and the Crisis Negotiation Team were activated.

The female continued to resist law enforcement and remained barricaded throughout the night. As the SWAT situation progressed, K9 Nordy was sent in to apprehend the suspect. K9 Nordy sustained at least one stab wound. 

K9 Nordy was transported to a local veterinarian hospital and is in stable condition. K9 Nordy was funded by the generous donors to the Sheriff’s Office. As many departments across the nation, the sheriffs office does not have the resources in their own for the K9 Unit. 

We are collecting donations for K9 Nordy’s medical expenses if you are able to donate.
