National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI)
Every year, the Michigan Nursing Student Association hosts a fundraiser for an important community health topic that we feel is important to address. This year, we decided to focus our efforts on mental health and ending the stigma around mental illness. The National Alliance on Mental Illness or NAMI is an organization of more than 600 local affiliates who focus their efforts on advocating and spreading awareness of mental illness and mental health and also provide education and support to those who are in need. They also have a crisis helpline, support groups, and online discussion groups to encourage those who have experiences they want to share a platform to share them and provide a place for people to reach out when they are struggling to find support and assistance. Mental illness can affect anyone at any age so it is important to connect people in need to support and resources when times of crises come up. Please consider donating to our cause!
