Goal
Fear and embarrassment are some of the most powerful emotions of all – you just have to look at incontinence to see it. Can you imagine living with a condition that can be treated but not getting the help you deserve, all because you’re afraid to ask for it? That’s what millions and millions of people are dealing with every day.
Just listen to what patients themselves have to say: “I have feelings of embarrassment, usually over the thought of anyone finding out. I absolutely hate that my body has betrayed me.”
That shame and suffering is why we’re so motivated at the National Association for Continence to get the word out to as many patients as possible that real, meaningful help is here. That incontinence doesn’t have to keep you isolated, ashamed and vulnerable. It’s why we like to say that we don’t save lives, but we do save life.
We can’t do it alone.
NAFC is a very small organization facing a very big challenge: There are far more people battling bladder and bowel disorders today than we can ever hope to reach with our limited budget. How many more? You might be surprised to learn that more than 35 million people are living with leaks right now, but only a small fraction of them are aware of all the free resources we put at their disposal.
That includes accurate, up-to-date information about a tremendous range of conditions. Online and in-print brochures and booklets. A national doctor finder. A caring community of patients and caregivers to support and guide one another. And so much more.
Keeping all of this current, growing our outreach, and getting our message of hope and help to all those suffering in silence takes an incredible amount of dedication and effort. Even more, it takes funding. That’s why the generosity of our supporters is so essential.
Please give to NAFC to help us continue to provide these essential resources to our community.
