Myanmar Bible Translation
Bible Translation for Ethnic Groups in Myanmar
Ministry: Bible Translation
The country of Myanmar has a population of over 51 million people, with 135 different ethnic groups and about 200 spoken languages. Christians make up less than 6% of the population. To date, the Bible (whole Bible or portions) have been made available in 71 languages in Myanmar, meaning that there are still over 100 languages that the Bible has not been translated into yet.
Today, Christianity is growing especially among the minority ethnic groups. There is a demand from local churches and pastors to have the Word of God made available to these ethnic groups so that these peoples may read the Bible in their heart language.
The Bible Society is committed to making the Bible available to all peoples and is heavily involved in Bible translation work in Myanmar. With your help, these ethnic groups can come face to face with the Living Word of God.
