Mountains Restoration Trust: Summer Goals
Help Protect & Preserve the Santa Monica Mountains
We acquired our first 525 acres of land in 1984. As of today, we own, manage and steward over 2,800 acres of natural open space in the Santa Monica Mountains. These lands are protected in perpetuity for people and all species - from the casual hiker to the endangered red-legged frog. Our acreage includes the iconic Cold Creek Preserve, the Woolsey-scorched La Sierra Preserve, and the soon-to-be rebuilt interpretive center at Headwaters Corner.
These lands, and their highly diverse habitats and species, continually transform. They constantly change and require our attention, stewardship, defense and care. Fires, droughts, invasive plants, taxes, floods, erosion, and trail maintenance are but a few of the ongoing costs of protecting and enjoying our local natural open spaces in perpetuity.
Today, we ask for your support to maintain and defend these lands. This June through September, all donations will directly help Mountains Restoration Trust steward the 2,800+ acres of natural open space in your Santa Monica Mountains.
